A Significant Increasing Risk Association between Cigarette Smoking and XPA and XPC Genes Polymorphisms

چکیده
Cigarette smoking (CS) is a major cause of various serious diseases due to tobacco chemicals. There evidence suggesting that CS has been linked with the DNA damage repair system, as it can affect genomic stability, inducing genetic changes in genes involved specifically nucleotide excision (NER) pathway, affecting function and/or regulation these genes. Single polymorphism (SNP), along CS, work NER pathway and, therefore, could lead different diseases. This study explored association four SNPs both XPA and XPC Saudi population. The Taq Man genotyping assay was used for 220 healthy non-smokers (control) 201 smokers evaluate gene named rs10817938, rs1800975, rs3176751, rs3176752 called rs1870134, rs2228000, rs2228001, rs2607775. In gene, SNP rs3176751 showed high-risk CS-induced all clinical parameters, including duration, intensity, gender, age smokers. On other hand, rs1800975 statistically significant low-risk parameters. addition, rs10817938 only long-term younger A found older rs2228001 female rs2607775 revealed diseases, concerning except male However, rs2228000 rs1870134 no CS. Overall, results demonstrated possible associations (effector/and protector) between polymorphisms genes, such XPC, polymorphisms.

Interactions between Cigarette Smoking and Polymorphisms of Xenobiotic-Metabolizing Genes: The Risk of Oral Leukoplakia
BACKGROUND This case-control study investigates the role of xenobiotic-metabolizing genes, including glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) and cytochrome P450 1A1 (CYP1A1) and 2E1 (CYP2E1), in the susceptibility to oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs). METHODS The genotypes of GSTM1, GSTT1, GSTP1, CYP1A1*2C, and CYP2E1 PstI/RsaI polymorphisms were determined for 217 OPMD cases and 492 age...
متن کاملInteractions between cigarette smoking and XPC-PAT genetic polymorphism enhance bladder cancer risk.
Inherited polymorphisms in the XPC gene that lead to a reduction in DNA repair capacity may increase susceptibility to bladder cancer. We investigated three polymorphisms of the XPC gene (PAT, Ala499Val and Lys939Gln) in 600 subjects with bladder cancer and in 609 healthy controls by a polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorp...
متن کاملAssociation between cigarette smoking and metabolic syndrome.
In the August 2005 issue of Diabetes Care, Oh et al. (1) reported that, in a representative population-based sample of 3,452 Korean men, cigarette smoking is associated with the metabolic syndrome. They also show a dosedependent effect, with prevalence of the syndrome progressively increasing with the number of cigarettes smoked. Of the components of the syndrome, dyslipidemia (high triglycerid...
متن کاملAssociation between Peer Cigarette Smoking and Electronic Cigarette Smoking among Adolescent Nonsmokers: A National Representative Survey
We assessed the association between electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use and peer cigarette smoking, a major risk factor for the initiation of cigarette smoking in adolescents. Data from the 2013 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey of 65,753 nonsmokers aged 13-18 years were analyzed using multiple logistic regression. A total of 3.8% of the Korean adolescents were 'ever e-cigarette' us...
متن کاملAssociation between MTNR1A and CYP19 Genes Polymorphisms and Economic Traits in Kurdi Sheep
The ovine melatonin receptor 1A (MTNR1A) and aromatase (CYP19) genes were structurally characterized and the association between their variants and reproductive and growth traits was studied in Kurdi sheep at Kurdi sheep breeding station located in Shirvan, Iran. The genomic DNA was extracted by guanidine thiocyanate-silica gel method. Polymerase chain reaction was carried out to amplify 824 bp...
